Maurice Stans
Maurice Stans was the former Secretary of Commerce and was
the financial chairman for CREEP (Committee to Re-Elect the President). For the
1972 election Stans brought in $60 million through his fundraising. Some of the
money that Stans brought in Nixon used for the Watergate burglaries. That is
how he was connected to Watergate. To clear his name after Watergate he sought
out for an ambassadorship in another country, but he needed a Senate approval
for this and thus he didn’t get it.
